MM Parquet & Carpentry Ltd has been fitting reclaimed parquet flooring for many years. Our work with reclaimed parquet flooring started out fitting salvaged parquet flooring all over Ireland and fitting for many architectural salvage companies in the north and the south of the country. These styles of parquet flooring are very popular for not just their age and the history behind the product, but their beauty and the colours and tones that you cannot get from new types of parquet flooring available today.
There are a couple of ways in which you can achieve the reclaimed parquet flooring finish. The first one and the most traditional is to use salvaged parquet flooring. This type of reclaimed parquet flooring is when old parquet flooring has been sourced and removed from an old building. We can also source reclaimed parquet flooring from our suppliers which is ready for fitting.
Reclaimed Parquet Flooring
With salvaged parquet flooring each block must be cleaned and all the bitumen tar which was used to bond the blocks must be removed. This is a painstaking job as each individual block has to be cleaned for your design to fit back together. This is one of the main reasons salvaged reclaimed parquet flooring is so expensive.
An alternative option is to source reclaimed parquet flooring from our suppliers which is ready for installation. We can order reclaimed lumber and have it made up in in a herringbone design and one of the main products is reclaimed oak parquet flooring. We are the first company to be able to supply this service in Ireland and have a wide range of different finishes available to choose from. Once the floor is fitted the customer can then choose the finishes, they might decide they want very little sanding done, which will leave them with an authentic full of character floor, then they can decide what type of colouring they would like. These decisions can be made when the floor is fitted, and the customer has a chance to see it in place and then decide what suits the room best.
Reclaimed parquet flooring, by its nature, is not perfect in its finish and look and you should give careful consideration if this is the type of parquet flooring for you, Please don’t hesitate to contact us for more information.
