Antique Parquet Flooring – Brown Oak Tone
This is a beautiful brown oak parquet flooring which illustrates the versatility of this type of parquet flooring. You can go from the lightest of tones to the darkest of tones and you still get that amazing effect and variation of grain. We supply and fit these herringbone floors and can give you any tone of polished finish to suit your requirements. This project started out as a very simple one but as we started the job of fitting this parquet flooring, we noticed a lot of issues with the sub-floors and even as we had surveyed the floors and they looked ok as the parquet flooring was starting to be fitted, we noticed there were many humps and bumps in the original concrete floors.
We had to level each square meter of concrete one by one with our concrete grinder for the parquet flooring to be bonded correctly. This was very important as all the parquet flooring was laid on to an 80mm concrete base on an underflooring heating system. Therefore, it was so important to get the floors levelled correctly, as you need as much of the parquet flooring bonded to give it as much strength as possible to take the different fluctuations of heat.
After all the hard labour of getting the subfloors to the correct state for the parquet flooring, it was time to discuss the best style of layout for the client. The client really liked the walnut inlay detail with a triple border edging. This parquet flooring design is very popular with a lot of our clients and the timber of choice was the black American walnut slip. This slip of timber is a solid 8-10 mm strip that is placed between the herringbone flooring and the triple stack bond border. This is glued and pinned to the edge of the parquet flooring before you install your border edging. MM Parquet & Carpentry have been fitting many of these inlays in our parquet flooring over the last 30 years and they are effective in showing off the unique nature of your parquet flooring.
As this style of parquet flooring was a tumble herringbone flooring block, it is very easy to work with when it comes to the tone and polishing required to complete your parquet flooring. Also, they are very stable for fitting on underfloor heating and for fitting in high moisture areas like your kitchen or bathroom.
When all the parquet flooring was completed and fitted, we then sat down with the client to go over all the colour choices. It is very important to get this right before you go over the sanding options as the more sanding that is done the more the parquet flooring gets a fresher look when polished. Once the colour tones are applied you really get to see the colour variations on your parquet flooring. The colour chosen on this parquet flooring project was and antique brown oak, which can give a very old and vintage look and when the colour hits the black American walnut inlay it makes the tone of the timber darken even more, this really can make your parquet flooring stand out from the rest and can really give you something different when it comes to fitting a parquet floor.
