A Floor for Life

For over 25 years I have been fitting all types flooring, from laminates to solid parquet and have a wide range of experiences of different styles and methods of fitting floors and have had the privilege of fitting with many different companies in England and in Ireland.

Now after all this time i can sit down and write this blog with confidence knowing with all the experience I have had that the best flooring and the one you will get a return from as the years role on is solid parquet flooring.

The reasons for this decision on parquet flooring is a simple fact, is the way that it is fitted and for the gluing systems that are involved in the many different situation that arise from each job.

A lot of the cheaper floors out there on the market are designed at being laid fast and easy for the DIY person and this is fine when you don’t have the budget to put in a good quality floor. But what I find is after 5-10 years of these types of floors being down is people want to change and end up going for parquet floors in the end.

These floors are cheap, as they are floated on foam and can clip together and this in turn makes the floors noisy to walk on and make it impossible to sound prof against. Also if you have any sort of water damage or a leak situation you will not notice anything until it is too late and by the time you figure things out are wrong you will have to replace the whole floor.

Now if you have a parquet floor fitted it is a totally different situation. As the floors are on a gluing system and have direct contact to your concrete, you have no sound when you walk on it and you don’t get any squeaks, the best way to describe it is, it’s like walking on a tiled floor but you have the beauty of a stunning parquet floor.

Also if you have a leak or where i have seen in many of the jobs i have done over the last 20 years or so is, when a house has been flooded with a couple of inches of water been there the floors have never come up and all that is involved is to allow floors to dry out and then you can just go in and give your floors a sand & polish and they are back to brand new again.
